Copyright © reMusik.orgAxel de Jenlis was born in 1989 in St-Germain-en-Laye, France. He began to study the cello at the age of six at the Rixensart Academy, Belgium. He continued his studies under Alexandre Debrus at “la Petite Chapelle d’Argenteuil” in Wateloo. He received both formative and higher training there. At the same time, Axel benefitted from the advice of Luc Dewez on the subjects of cello and chamber music. For the beginning of the 2007 academic year, Axel was admitted to the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory under Professor Anatoly Pavlovich Nikitin. Axel is currently in his fifth year of study at the Conservatory. He studies chamber music under the tutelage of Professor Sergei Urivaev. Masterclasses include those with Mark Drobinsky, Hélène Dautry,… Axel gave some solo and chamber music concerts in Belgium, France, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Chile, Argentina, China, Benin,… and took part in several important festivals: Festival de Wallonnie, Festival International Albert Roussel, Mravinsky International Festival, Festival Internacional de Ushuaia… He played in some of the world’s leading venues such as: big hall of the Centre for Fine Arts (recital in 2010) and Flagey in Brussels, the Oriental Art Center in Shanghai, the Philharmonic halls in St. Petersburg, the big hall of the military school in Santiago,… As a soloist, he played concertos accompanied by the Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes de Bruxelles, Festival de Ushuaia Orchestra, Ensemble DeSaFiNaDo, Ensemble Orchestral de la Petite Chapelle d’Argenteuil,… Axel is a member of the St. Petersburg Cello Ensemble. Axel is laureate of the “Bischofszell International Strings Competition” and the ”Rovere d’oro Giovanni Talenti International Competition”. In August of 2009 He was professor at a short course organised by the International Music Academy in Dinant, Belgium and in 2010 he gave some master classes at the Conservatory in Santiago de Chile. Axel gave interviews and recorded for different radios and TV programs around the world. Axel is the artistic director of the “Festival International de Musique de Chambre Est-Ouest” in Louvain-La-Neuve (Belgium). He currently plays a 1913 Hilaire Darche cello, lent by the Carlo Van Neste Foundation. |
